They are almost in the gate..

Embattled California-based trainer Jerry Hollendorfer plans to move his stable to Oaklawn Park in Arkansas next month, the Daily Racing Form reported Monday.

Hollendorfer was banned from Santa Anita in June after the deaths of four of his horses during a rash of fatalities at the Arcadia, Calif., venue. Courts later ruled that the Stronach Group, owner of Santa Anita and Golden Gate Fields in Northern California, did not have to allow Hollendorfer back at those tracks.

Hollendorfer had a stable at Del Mar’s just-ended fall meet and another one at Los Alamitos, which opens a short meet later this week.

“I’m being forced to run at Oaklawn because I’m not up in California,” he told DRF. “I’d like to be able to run in California. “We’re taking everything (to Oaklawn).”

I live in Hot Springs Arkansas to this day. Some of my fondest memories are of skipping school to attend the races at Oaklawn Park. I remember one time my mother was called by the principal for an emergency meeting my senior year. She had to leave work and everything to come down there for this meeting. The principal explained to her that I had over 50 absences. (Shout out to Mr.D K best highschool bud and my partner in crime) Strangely all of them were after lunch and in classes like study hall, off season football, track, and art. My Mom is an absolute saint first of all. but it made her mad not so much for the absences but for the fact she had to come into the meeting and miss work. She calmly asked my grade point average? My rank in the class? And which university did he have a full scholarship to? and literally told the principal to worry about more important things. wrote a note that said I could check out anytime I saw fit without calling her. Maybe not the best parenting move. Hindsight’s always 20/20. However, the look on the principals face was priceless!! (Love you Momma) oaklawn Park was old school like its owner.  A traditional track.  Not too long ago oaklawn Park did not even take exacta bets, daily doubles, or trifectas!  They did have something extremely attractive do professional gamblers and Wise guys.  Oaklawn Park guaranteed $2.20 return on a $2 show bet no matter the true odds payout!  Now this isn’t a professional Gambler class or forum I won’t go into the reasons why this is such an incredible opportunity for professional gamblers.  Roger explained it to me and trust me when I say this it’s one hell of a betting opportunity if you know what you’re doing. Oaklawn Park didn’t do the gimmicks that had a nice race track. They had the Arkansas Derby. I can remember a who’s who of horses though: cigar, Zenyata, Pine bluff, American Pharo, Smarty Jones. Many many more! A personal favor that you never heard of Boozing. Former track announcer at Oaklawn and living legend Terry Wallace still clear as a bell in my head and down the stretch they come picking them up and laying them down:Here comes BBoooooooooozzzzzzziiinngg! Outstanding! Good times! Oaklawn Park owner Charles Cella was more than gracious each and every time I was a guest in his private box. He was also very nice to my mother, and a good friend to Roger. I’m certain he’s looking down and smiling at a wonderful job his sons are doing at carrying on the oaklawn tradition and the Cella name. I do not know them personally but I’m sure they are gentleman and wish them nothing but continued success with the $100-plus million dollar resort and casino soon-to-open. JAN 2019

How many people do you know that think for themselves? We need to get back to the fundamentals. The little things make a big difference. Attitude is one of the few things you can control in life.
